Allen's Page

Hey there boys and girls, my name is Allen and I love music!

So much so, that I REALLY love to make my OWN!!!

And Wet Shoelaces is the perfect way for me to express my musical ideas - twisted as they may often be...

... and when I'm not twisting for Wet Shoelaces, I twist my own!

If you care to know more, well...

I began playing trumpet in 5th Grade, and actually performed in award -winning wind ensembles as well as getting "A" grades in solo competitions throughout middle and high school.

Yay.

And then in another lifetime (when I began to approach 30 years old), I took guitar lessons and learned enough  chords to eventually play with several alt-rock cover bands in the 90's... such as "Divide By Zero", "Wholly Mackerel" - which featured Ken Briggs of the NiteTrain band on bass, and "Queen Elvis" - which featured Wet Shoelaces' own Steve Gregory on bass!

When the novelty of playing other artists' music wore off, I bought myself a four-track recorder and an effects processor, and invited Steve over to figure out how they worked.  Chaos ensued.  And I continue to enjoy the chaos to this day!

(I've taken piano lessons along the way as well, but I need to take more)

"That's just self-indulgent bullshit"

 - What Branford Marsalis would say if he heard my music...
